The interior of Casa de Loma was recently redecorated to reflect the architecture of historic Puerto Rico. Throughout our three bedroom home, a motif of archways was used in combination with Caribbean colors to create an inviting and relaxing feel in every room. A large, gracious porch provides a shady retreat all day and allows dining with a view. Two large tiled bathrooms are equipped with modern fixtures and showers. In the comfortable well-ventilated bedrooms, all beds are new and each room has its own ceiling fan. The house has ample parking, an emergency water supply, and a large yard with citrus, palm and flowering trees. If in season, feel free to pick your morning grapefruit.

Living Room Kitchen
The comfortable living room with white archways surrounded by faux stucco finish reflects the architecture of old San Juan. Twin modern love seats, with colorful wicker side chairs can easily be arranged to comfortably seat six. A TV, a radio/CD/Tape player and ceiling fans are all provided for your enjoyment. We offer guests a video library of more than 125 movies.

There is a full working kitchen and a laundry area. The kitchen includes a breakfast nook with a marble top table. Kitchen appliances include: electric cook-top range, double door refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, toaster oven, blender and coffee maker. Complete cookware and dinnerware for eight are included. A small picnic cooler is provided for day trips.

Master Bed Red Room
The master bedroom features a queen-size bed, a large six drawer dresser, a plush side chair, and large tiled bathroom with a shower. A second bathroom serves the two additional bedrooms. One of these bedrooms has two twin beds and walls decorated in "Hibiscus" pink.
Blue Room Pool
The other bedroom is painted in a bright, "Caribbean Sea" blue and features a double bed and ceiling fan. The new pool is set in a private garden courtyard and large enough for the whole family to enjoy (click to see more pool pictures).
Dinning Room Porch
A full size dining area includes a table for six with comfortable chairs so that you can relax over a leisurely meal. The front porch overlooks the hills of Las Piedras, providing a quiet place to read and relax.
Porch Porch
Views of the yard include many flowering shrubs, banana trees that you are welcome to pick from, and an array of palms. The porch has an area that is large enough for dining. We often dine on the porch to view the pleasant pastoral setting and to enjoy the evening breezes.
The Owners
Marilyn and Jim are shown on a visit to nearby Culebra Island. Spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea abound in Eastern Puerto Rico. (See Beaches and Sightseeing.)
Meet the Owners
Casa de Loma is owned by Marilyn and Jim Meighan of Dunbarton, New Hampshire. The house has been owned by the Meighan family since 1985, when it was purchased for a home by Jim's father. After Jim's Dad passed away, the couple redecorated and modernized the property to serve as a vacation rental. When Jim and Marilyn retire, they plan to use the property as a winter home.
Jim says,...

"A Puerto Rican vacation is wonderful in many ways. The weather is wonderful and dependable. The environment is both relaxing and stimulating. There's always something new to do or discover. The island is beautiful, and the Puerto Rican people are friendly and helpful. Go once and you'll always want to go back!"

Marilyn says...

I've decorated the house so that you'll always feel like you're in the tropics. We want our guests to have the unique and memorable experience that only Puerto Rico can offer. We want them to say, it's been wonderful to be in Puerto Rico...whether they relaxed on the verandah reading a book, or spent everyday sightseeing.
